Advancement Project

AP supports leadership and advocacy services for the nonprofit sector, and operates the Healthy City Project (includes a geo-map with information about many organizations and activities in Los Angeles).

California Association of Nonprofits

CalNonprofits is a membership organization for more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations in California, and recently released its Causes Count report on the economic impact of the nonprofit sector.

California Community Foundation

CCF is a major funder of the nonprofit sector in Southern California, and has available on its website a report with many useful statistics about the coming transfer of wealth in the region.

Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy, University of Southern California

CPPP promotes more effective philanthropy and strengthens the nonprofit sector through research that informs philanthropic decision making and public policy to advance problem solving.

Community Foundation of the Valleys

CFV offers Donor Advised Funds for philanthropists in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, and provides leadership in philanthropy for this geographic region.


DMLA is a project which provides information on dance resources, who works in dance in LA County, and a social map of who’s talking about dance and what they’re talking about. 

Institute for Community Health & Well-Being, California State University Northridge

ICHW supports Valley nonprofits in health and wellness, including a map of service agencies in Canoga Park and a services map on autism.

San Fernando Valley Business Journal 

SFVBJ provides news and information coverage of the Valley’s business sector, and of its nonprofit and philanthropic activities. 

Southern California Grantmakers

SCG is where Southern California funders come together to learn, connect, and take action for greater impact. Programs and membership are open only to grantmakers (foundations, corporations and individual donors) and philanthropic consultants who are located in and/or fund in the Southern California region. Website includes a member directory.

211 LA County

211 LA County is a nonprofit organization that provides access to comprehensive health and social services through a searchable database, as well as disaster support and other services for LA County residents.

Valley Care Community Consortium

VCCC is a networking organization of health service providers in the San Fernando Valley.

Valley Economic Alliance

VEA is a private, nonprofit economic development and marketing collaborative made up of private and public investors organized for the purpose of growing and sustaining the economic base of the San Fernando Valley, and improving the quality of life in the Valley region.
